Herman Griffith was a popular DJ on legendary Los Angeles R&B station KGFJ. But on this 1966 aircheck, he's spinning the hits for our troops in Vietnam via Armed Forces Radio & Television Service (AFRTS). Lots of classic Soul hits and misses on this one. Listen and enjoy.

Join us as we head south on the Turnpike to Philadelphia's KYW for Jim Stagg's Stairway To The Stars, circa May, 1964. Stagg was also well known for his work in Milwaukee and Chicago radio, and in 1968-69 was the imaging voice for New York's WMCA.

Los Angeles gets its first taste of the format that would change Top 40 radio forever, with a sneak preview of the new streamlined sound of Boss Radio KHJ. Short acappella jingles, short breaks, and a lack of clutter were the hallmarks of the Boss Radio sound. This was originally a scoped composite, but I've restored all of the music for a better listening experience.
