A tribute to William "Buddy" Vaden

My Dad always wanted me to be on the radio and was so happy when I started the Fringe Factory Radio Show over 10 years ago. What he wasn't too happy about is that he would always call in and request songs that I didn't want to play cause they didn't quite fit my format. Mostly Doo-Wop and old country songs. So this show is going to be all my Dad's requests over the years.  And he actually has a history with some of the old Nashville country stars such as George Jones & Johnny Cash, so you'll hear a little about that too!

Crayons to Perfume! Girl of the Week: Lynne Randell

It's been quite a lot time since I featured a single Girl of the Week - and this week it's Miss Mod Australia, the 1967 Monkees girl - Lynne Randell! Lynne opened for the Monkees on their 1967 American tour - she was a spunky blonde pop singer, favoring a fun, mod wardrobe and had a great voice and engaging stage style. She could sing a lovely melody but preferred a rousing rocker - you can see both sides of Lynne in the videos below. Also featured today are Australian and New Zealand female voices - Carole King of the Executives, Judy and Sue Donaldson - the Chicks, Allison Durban, Dinah Lee, Olivia Newton-John and so many more GIRLS! Crayons to Perfume! with djgirlgroupgirl, 7pm tonight, on Ichiban. Tune in here! http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/76953
