Country Comedy
In 1972, the Statler Brothers introduced us to Lester "Roadhog" Moran and his Cadillac Cowboys. They were an exaggeration of an awful country band trying to make it in Nashville, complete with a 15 minute radio show on Saturday mornings on the fictional WEAK in Rainbow Valley. They also played the Johnny Mack Brown High School dance every Saturday night and released two albums, Country Music Here And Now and Alive at the Johnny Mack Brown High School. Listen to Alive and you will become a fan of the Statlers.

"Not Even a Mediocre Time...!"
Who is Cathy? Who are Poag and Hutcheson? When and more importantly why was this disc ever recorded? Completely mysterious and practically indescribable, I offer you the Epic "My Name Is Cathy."

"Cassius" Love Vs. "Sonny" Bono
Anyone who's spent much time being bombarded by my musical choices knows that two things I really love are Sonny Bono's solo records, as collected on the Rhino Handmade version of Inner Views (I'd avoid the Collector's Choice edition, which is only that album without his other singles), and Beach Boys' Party! So imagine my joy to hear Sonny's peanut butter in the Beach Boys' chocolate! Two great tastes that taste great together!
(Incidentally, you should go here, where the Sonny label is swiped from, to see one of the coolest autograph-collecting strategies I've ever seen)

Frank Sutton On His Day Off
What happens when Frank Sutton drops by the LA Dodgers locker room? He makes a beeline for pitcher Claude Osteen (nickname: Gomer) and berates him for his stupidity and knuckleheadededness. He couldn't help himself, I guess.
More on the late great Frank Sutton over here on WFMU's Beware Of The Blog.
